Zoltán Fejér: 130 years of celluloid film/ A celluloid-film 130 éve

 

Artistic reflections by a historian of photography techniques

The exhibition presents 20 works of Zoltán Fejér. The photographer created his artworks using the techniques of photogram, cliché verre and chemogram, while some of the other images are klecksographies, painted with ink and tempera. The exhibition is a reflexion to the 130th anniversary of the 35 mm celluloid film, perforated on both sides. Each artwork represents the theme itself: the film as the raw material. It was first used by Thomas Edison in the kinetoscope; then, over the next 130 years it was the physical medium of silent and art films, war newscasts, documentaries and – until the spread of digital image making – photo-reportages and billions of amateur photos.

Egy fotótechnika-történész képzőművészeti reflexiói

 

A kiállítás Fejér Zoltán húsz alkotását tárja a nézők elé. A fotogram, cliché verre, kemogram eljárásokkal, fotópapírra készült alkotásokat készítőjük tintával és temperával festett klexográfiái egészítik ki. Jelen tárlat a 35 milliméteres, kétoldalt perforált celluloid film 130 éves jubileumára reagál. Minden alkotáson megjelenik maga a téma: a film mint nyersanyag. Először Thomas Edison használta a kinetoszkópjában; majd pedig erre készítették – a következő százharminc évben – a némafilmeket, a művészfilmeket, a háborús híradókat, a dokumentumfilmeket, valamint az elektronikus képrögzítés elterjedéséig a riportfényképeket és az amatőrfotók milliárdjait.

Biography / Életrajz

Zoltán György Fejér’s interest in the creative ways of photography began in 1967. His works have been exhibited in Hungary since 1968, and in international exhibitions since 1970, having received 24 awards. Between 1972 and 2009 he organised 17 solo exhibitions of his works, and he served as a curator of numerous exhibitions of the history of photography. From 1969 to 1982 he worked as a photojournalist at FŐFOTÓ, from 1982 to 1984 as the head of the advertising photography studio at Fény-Szöv in Budpest, from 1984 to 1985 as a photojournalist, and from 1985 to 1992 as editor-in-chief at Fine Art Publishing House. He published his research on the history of photography in more than 400 articles and 11 books. He has been a member of the Hungarian Art Foundation since 1988, and of the Association of Hungarian Photographers since 1989, where he received the Lifetime Achievement Award in 2011. His works can be found in 15 public collections in Hungary, in 14 museums in seven different countries, and in private collections.

Fejér Zoltán György 1967-ben kezdett el érdeklődni a fényképezés alkotó módozatai iránt. Fotói 1968 óta szerepelnek hazai országos és 1970 óta külföldön megrendezett nemzetközi fotókiállításokon, amelyeken eddig 24 díjat nyert. Saját fotóiból 1972–2009 között 17 önálló kiállítást rendezett és több fotótörténeti tárlat kurátoraként is tevékenykedett. 1969 és1982 között a FŐFOTÓ-nál riporterként, 1982-től 1984-ig a budapesti Fény-Szöv-nél a reklámfotó-stúdió vezetőjeként, 1984–85-ben fotóriportereként, 1985 és 1992 között a Képzőművészeti Kiadó felelős szerkesztőjeként dolgozott. Fotótörténeti kutatásait négyszáznál több, nyomtatásban megjelent cikkben és 11 könyvben publikálta. 1988-tól tagja volt a Művészeti Alapnak, 1989-től a Magyar Fotóművészek Szövetségének, ahol 2011-ben megkapta az Életmű-díjat. Alkotásai magángyűjteményeken kívül tizenöt hazai közgyűjteményben és hét ország tizennégy múzeumában találhatók meg.
